Building margin into a design in the RF area is essential to maximize operation performance in the field. The environments for IoT and M2M RF applications are varied and often hostile in terms of temperature, attenuation of signals, and movement. Building adaptive features into the transceiver is critical to react to these varied environments. Design techniques also provide for configuration and trimming so that the transceiver can operate in a centered region to maximize performance. PCS design practices and methods provide an important foundation for robust design.
